MakuluLinux, a renowned name in the Linux community, has resurrected its LinDoz distribution with a slew of groundbreaking features, including artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual camera capabilities. The brain behind this development, Jacque Montague Raymer, has navigated through the turbulent waters of constant upstream changes in the Cinnamon desktop environment to bring LinDoz back to the fore.
Reviving LinDoz with AI-Driven Features
Outshining mainstream operating systems, the new LinDoz offers users an array of AI-driven features, aiming to streamline the user journey for both Linux neophytes and seasoned users. While the prime objective of LinDoz has been to provide a soft landing for Windows users transitioning to Linux, it has not shied away from pushing the envelope.
The distribution embraces a modified Cinnamon desktop, augmented with Conky for system monitoring and a calendar, alongside a plethora of appearance options. One of the major shifts includes the adoption of Microsoft Edge as the default web browser, largely attributed to the integration of Microsoft’s AI-assisted Copilot.
A Strategic Exclusion and an Innovative Introduction
Interestingly, LinDoz deliberately omits an office suite, instead offering Google Docs and online links to Microsoft Office 365. The real game-changer, however, is the introduction of ‘Interactive World’ – an AI-rendered virtual environment where users can engage with the world and face the repercussions of their actions. Raymer underscores the importance of user autonomy over AI integration, enabling them to regulate AI’s access to the system and internet.
AI Features and Virtual Cam App
LinDoz’s AI offerings are categorized into Chat Mode, Advisor Mode, and Command Mode, each endowed with different access levels to the user’s computer. The Virtual Cam app provides advanced customization for live streaming, emulating the functionalities of the popular Open Broadcaster Software (OBS). Additionally, a host of desktop functions and AI features are bundled as add-ons in the Pro edition.
In a nutshell, by incorporating AI, LinDoz is setting a new benchmark for Linux distributions, positioning itself as an intriguing choice for users intrigued by AI-powered operating systems.
